Quite honestly, I wasn't as impressed as I have been in past years with The Armory Show. It lacked something for me this year; there was a desperation in the air that oddly made what is already an aloof industry even more so. However, I did become particulary enarmoured with the work of Manabu Ikeda. Each of this pieces are incredibly intricate and can take up to two years to complete. When seen in person, they become visceral as one begins to explore all of the stories created within each piece. One of my favorites pieces is History of Rise and Fall.
Manabu Ikeda. is represented by the Mizuma Art Gallery in Tokyo, Japan.
